The United Way of Southern Kentucky held a food drive for the "Feed The Need" regional food program.
People were able to drop off any non-perishable or canned food items today at any local kroger. Wal-mart, Save-a-lot or IGA food store.
All donations will benefit food banks located here in south central kentucky.
"Feed The Need" was created last year in response to the increased need in our communities for resources.
United Way volunteer Amy Scotts says its the best way to get the community involved.
"A group of people just can together to volunteer for united way and to hand out flyers that has a list that the food pantry is in need of. Customers come in and if they purchase a food item then we have have drop-off carts that they can put their food item into."
If you are intested in helping to "Feed The Need" you can drop food items off at any grocery store location or you can contact the United Way of Southern Kentucky at www.uwsk.org.
