The lab offers cutting-edge education and research and workforce development opportunities in automation, robotics, simulation, and animation.

Senator McConnell secured almost $6-million in federal appropriations over the past three years for WKU's Ogden College of Science and Engineering. Nearly $2-million has been used for the lab and equipment.

One WKU student says he's glad Senator McConnell stopped by for a visit.

"I think it's awesome," said Joshua Rather, "him giving this grant helps us to further our education. So I think it's great, I like that he's here and showing his support."

WKU President Gary Ransdell thanked Senator McConnell for his continued support of the university.

McConnell has helped bring more than $70-million to the campus over the past 13 years.
