Ky. Education Board Elects Chairman

The Kentucky Board of Education elects a new chairman, replacing the man who oversaw a failed search for a new education commissioner

Wilburn Brothers of Elizabethtown will replace Keith Travis.

Travis served on the board for a decade including the last three as a chairman.

When the board hired Illinois educator Barbara Irwin to replace former Education Commissioner Gene Wilhoit.

Irwin withdrew before she started the position.

Travis was first appointed by former Governor Paul Patton.

He said he will continue as a member of the board.
