The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet took an important step toward building the new connector road from U.S. 31-W to Interstate-65 on Aug. 16.
Officials held a public hearing as part of the Environmental Impact Statement.
Warren East Middle School hosted the hearing, giving property owners, businesses and industry representatives from the area the chance to express their opinions about the proposed new road.
It will connect I-65 to 31-W adjacent to the Kentucky Trimodal Transpark.
"We'll compile the comments that have been received from this meeting, as well as written comments that we receive, into a final environmental impact statement document that will be submitted to the Federal Highway Administration. We anticipate approval of that document in early 2008," said Marc Williams, the Ky. Dept. of Highways Commissioner.
Williams said the right-of-way acquisition should take about a year and a half with construction starting in 2009 or 2010.
