Former University of Kentucky basketball player Derrick Millar has been sentenced to three years in prison in a basketball ticket scam.
The 42-year-old Millar was sentenced Monday in Fleming County Circuit Court. He's been charged with similar offenses in at least 10 other counties. People charge that he took their money and promised UK tickets but never delivered.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports Millar pleaded guilty to two counts of theft by deception in Fleming County and was ordered to pay restitution and sentenced to three years on each count. Fleming County Commonwealth's Attorney Kathryn Hendrickson said the time will be served concurrently with any other sentence he receives in other counties.
Millar's lawyer, Christopher Hunt, says Millar's legal matters stem from a drug problem.
