State lawmakers reach an agreement on a bill that would provide incentives for a company that is considering bringing a high-tech coal plant to Kentucky.
Legislators met behind closed doors for much of the day on Aug. 16, 2007, trying to iron out the bill aimed at enticing Peabody energy to build a coal gasification plant in the state.
They finally reached an agreement around 10:30 p.m. on August 16.
Lawmakers will now ask Governor Ernie Fletcher to call a special session on the matter.
House Speaker Jody Richards said the bill could end up being beneficial to the environment.
