A preschool aimed to give children a head start is turning some of them away. Community Action's Head Start program has a waiting list at many of their locations in South Central Kentucky. Head Start is a federally funded preschool program for low income families.
Right now leaders say the program's popularity keeps growing with about 50 families on the list. Leaders say the overflow is partly because many of the families applying don't meet the income requirements. They also say the classrooms just don' t have enough room for all of the students. Head Start hopes to build onto their facilities and create more room.
