Bonds' Ball Expected to Fetch Around $500,000

He was in the right place at the right time and now a New York man will make a small fortune on Barry Bonds’ record-breaking 756th home run ball.

Matt Murphy was the lucky fan who came up with the ball during an august seventh game. Murphy said he has no choice but to sell the ball. He said several people told him he would be taxed on the souvenir just for holding on to it.

It’s holding an online auction between Aug. 28, 2007 through September 15.

The starting bid has not been determined, but auction officials predict the ball will fetch at least $500,000.
