A blow-out on a tractor-trailer causes the cargo to burst into flames and stops traffic on Southbound I-65 for hours.
Flashing lights from the eight police and fire units that responded pierced the night at mile-marker 15.
Northbound traffic was slowed and southbound traffic was backed up for three miles but no one was hurt.
The call came in to KSP at 6:45 p.m. on Aug. 22.
"A tractor-trailer was southbound in the right lane. He had a tire failure blowout on him and at that time he made contact with the concrete barrier which pushed the barrier off the interstate," explained Matt Allen, with the Kentucky State Police.
The trailer flipped on its side, sliding on the pavement causing sparks which ignited alcohol and the truck burst into flames.
Black smoke could be seen from ten miles away.
State police say lanes on Southbound I-65 are back open.
