Church Works On Land Deal

The expansion of the Living Hope Baptist Church in Bowling Green is going in a completely different direction.

Instead of building a new facility off of Lovers Ln., Living Hope is working on a deal to purchase land right next door from Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Holy Spirit was already planning to expand at a different location.

"Three years ago we bought property on Three Springs Rd. We'll use it for future expansion," said Jerry Riney, Pastor of Holy Spirit.

Living Hope leaders say this "unexpected opportunity" will allow them to reach more people, while also saving the church time and money.

"It provides us a shorter time period than it would have to build out on Lovers Ln.," explained Jason Pettus, Pastor of Living Hope.

Pettus said there is still a lot of leg work to be done on the deal, including a vote from both congregations scheduled for later this year.

But if all goes as planned, the closing on the property for nearly $5-million will be done in January of 2008.

No decisions have been made on what Living Hope will do with the land off of Lovers Ln.
