Candidates Speak Out During Radio Debate

Ernie Fletcher and Democratic challenger Steve Beshear exchange ideas on a radio debate.

In the hour-long debate on WKYX in Paducah, each candidate claimed he would bring a bi-partisan tone to the Capitol.

The topics of discussion ranged from casino gambling and health care, to pardoning powers.

The sharpest attacks came when Fletcher slammed Beshear on casino gambling and the challenger brought up an investigation into whether Fletcher's administration rewarded political supporters with protected state jobs.

Both candidates spoke by phone and their comments reflected main themes leading up to the November 6 election.
