Children First: Preparing for Sept. 11

By Stephanie Stang |

Next Wednesday marks the one-year anniversary of Sept. 11. While we look back on that day our children will be reminded of the tragedies and some may have questions about what happened.

Donald Nims, a counselor at WKU says as we remember, parents should be cautious as to how much television children are exposed to. Besides monitoring what children watch, parents need to monitor their children's behavior after the anniversary. Nims says if children do become upset or scared its important to calm their fears. He says it’s important that we look to the future instead of concentrating on the past.
