There's only a couple weeks left until the St. Jude Dream Home drawing!

More than 5,100 tickets for the home have been sold so far, meaning there's less than 1,900 left.

When you purchase a ticket you are immediately entered into the drawing for the Dream Home along with a number of other prizes.

Tickets can be purchased for $100 dollars.

St. Jude employees said money raised is truly helping save lives.

"Everyday we're making progress," said Kim Allison, a Research Nurse at St. Jude.

Kim Allison originally got her start working at another hospital, when the opportunity came along for her to work at St. Jude.

"I had always known about St. Jude and wanted to be a part of what St. Jude was doing," Allison said.

She now works in the hospital's department of infectious diseases where she has a number of jobs, from enrolling kids on vaccines to monitoring infections for leukemia patients.

As you can imagine, this can be a hard job.

"Infectious disease is a consult service, so we never see the kids initially when they're happy and everybody's good. We get called in when they're sick and they have major issues going on," Allison explained.

When children are given chemotherapy sometimes their bodies have trouble adjusting.

"So they're very prone to bacterial infections, fungal infections and other types of infections," Allison added.

In the past, having enough medicine to treat kids with these infections was difficult.

"There was not much available and we had a lot of kids that were dying of fungal disease and that's not the case anymore," she continued.

Now, with the money being put into the hospital and the research being done within St. Jude, more medicine is available, more cures are being found and more lives are being saved.

"So now, no longer are kids dying from their fungal infection. They are actually being treated for their fungal infections and allowed to continue treatment for their leukemia and find a cure, so that's been very rewarding to be part of that," Allison assured.

She said not only are they treating the children of St. Jude, but their research is shared with physicians worldwide.

That's why donations and raising money for this hospital is so important.

If you'd like to do your part to help the hospital and its patients, tickets for the Dream Home are still available.

Just purchase a ticket and watch WBKO on September 16 at noon to see if you have won a prize in the big drawing.
