For the second time in a week, a Kentucky National Guardsman is killed in action.
On Sept. 3, we learned a corrections officer with Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government is the 15th Kentucky Guardsman killed fighting the global war on terrorism.
Military officials say 37-year-old Staff Sergeant Delmar White was killed by an improvised explosive device while on combat patrol in Baghdad.
He had just been deployed to Iraq a few weeks ago.
Three other soldiers were injured in the incident, but their names haven't been released.
White was assigned to Battery B, 2nd Battalion, 138th Field Artillery, based in Carlisle.
Major Donald Storm calls White's death a terrible loss.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
Just last week, another member of the Kentucky National Guard Staff Sergeant Nicholas Carnes was killed during a firefight in Afghanistan.
