Governor Fletcher hopes to improve the state's services and readiness to assist Kentucky's seniors.
At the annual "Aging and Independent Living Conference," the governor outlined his vision for aging-related legislation.
Governor Fletcher's plan to help seniors "age in place" includes:
- A commitment to take thousands of seniors off waiting lists for such programs as meals on wheels, adult day care and home care
- Access to long term care coverage
- Caregiver tax credits
- Expanding consumer directed options
- Partnering with public housing
At the Sept. 5 conference, Fletcher said failure to aggressively fund and support aging programs in Kentucky will leave communities unprepared for the retirement of baby boomers.
