Police say a 22-year-old eastern Kentucky man is the primary suspect in a shooting that leaves his mother dead and his father critically injured.
Dustin Cordell of Pine Knot is being held in a jail in Campbell County, Tenn. where he was arrested after a high-speed pursuit by Kentucky State Police crossed state lines.
KSP says 55-year-old Anthony Cordell called 911 early Sept. 6 to report his wife, Kandi, was shot in the head.
Anthony suffered a gunshot wound to the head during the call.
Investigators have not determined a motive in the attack that has left many in the community in a state of shock.
"They always talked to you when you were out. You'd never expect anything like this to happen," neighbor Phoebe Anderson said.
Police say charges are pending Dustin Cordell's return to the state.
