Western Kentucky University has a large number of international students attending its Bowling Green campus. On Sept. 11, 2001, they had to deal with even more issues than American-born students.
International Center leaders say that it was tough because they had no precedent to look back on for ways to comfort the international students. While no major incidents took place, some international students said inappropriate words were exchanged from other students. Leaders say that the fact that no incidents took place can be attributed to the way that Bowling Green embraces diversity.
