After a much needed vacation, Brandon Lokits returns this week to bring you a new adventure in Kentucky.
On this Sept. 10 Adventure, he takes you on a calm trip kayaking down the Green River.
The hot and dry weather of a South-Central Kentucky summer begs for aquatic adventures and one leisurely adventure that can't be overlooked is kayaking.
This week, I've teamed up with Barry Turner of Big Buffalo Crossing in Munfordville, Kentucky and a few of his kayaking friends.
"I have been based here for about three years now. My parents live right here on the river and I've always floated down this stretch of river, I guess for the last 25 years," said Barry Turner, owner of Big Buffalo Cross.
The pace of the Green River is a slow one, but the calm water and the sights along the way make it perfect for a summer adventure.
There's no better way to cool off on a hot summer day than to get underneath the springs alongside the Green River.
But if you are going to brave the rocks below the falling water, be sure to bring along the proper footwear.
The springwater that feeds into the river is ice cold and amazingly refreshing on a hot summer day. Not only is the water nice, but the view is incredible.
With scenery like this, it's easy to see what kayaking is all about.
"Getting away, forgetting about your bills and your 'have to's,'" Turned admitted.
It's not about trying to get there. It's the in-between that's nice.
