The debate continues to rage tonight over the safety of the diabetes drug Avandia.
Documents acquired by the New York Times show the drug company knew Avandia was a heart risk.
One cardiologist told an FDA panel today keeping Avandia on the market is dangerous move.
"Increasing the risk of ischemic myrocardial events in a highly vulnerable population 70 percent of whom will eventually die of cardiovascular disease," said Dr. Steve Nissen, Cleveland Clinic Cardiology Chairman.
Company officials say Avandia is safe.
An FDA advisory panel will determine the safety of the drug and make their recommendations to the FDA, which will ultimately make a final decision.
