The Kentucky Supreme Court has turned down a prosecutor's request to reconsider its decision to stop the execution of a man convicted of killing a sheriff and deputy.
A motion to lift the stay of execution issued for Ralph Baze was turned away.
Baze was sentenced to death for the 1992 shootings of Powell County Sheriff Steve Bennett and Deputy Arthur Briscoe.
He was scheduled to die by lethal injection on Sept. 25, but the Supreme Court stopped it last week.
Hearings on three issues Baze raised in an appeal last month will be held in November.
