Contact lenses can be a benefit for children and teens but they can also cause harm if not taken care of properly.
According to researchers, contact lenses are the most common cause of medical-device-associated injuries among children over the age of eleven.
The American Academy of Ophthalmology says if your child experiences pain, burning, redness, tearing, or sensitivity to light while wearing contacts call your doctor.
An Ophthalmologist here in Bowling Green gives us some simple tips to avoid this problem.
"The safest way to wear lenses would be to take the lenses out, clean them with the solution. Give the eyes a break for overnight at least," said Dr. Marc Moore.
Dr. Moore also says you can buy daily disposables, but make sure you throw them out at the end of the day.
