A New Type Of Career Fair At Franklin-Simpson Middle School

By  |

Students at Franklin-Simpson Middle School got a taste of the working world Wednesday.

8th graders took part in operation preparation. Local professionals such as police, veterinarians and nurses volunteered their time to talk to students about being successful.

Guidance counselors polled each student on their career goals and brought in a matching companion for an eye opening experience.

"Bringing these folks in makes it real to them. It's real life, they can tell them what they need to know and to be successful in this career and talk to them about the training pathway to get there," says Superintendent Jim Flynn.

Operation preparation continues Thursday.

The Simpson County School District says the program coincides with their college and career ready curriculum.
