Allen County-Scottsville High School junior Katelyn Clark will serve as the Kentucky Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Vice-President for STAR Events for the 2013-14 school year. Clark’s election came at the Kentucky FCCLA state conference this week at the Galt House in Louisville.
“I will be coordinating the STAR events at the state conference next year,” Clark explained. “That will involve getting judges, setting times, signing certificates and handing out medals.”
At this year’s conference, Clark also earned national recognition for a “Power of One” presentation. The project involved outlining five goals she set for herself including personal and family goals.
Clark along with juniors Lilli Berry and Shivani Patel also placed third in the state for their STAR event in the “Life Event Planning” category. FCCLA students Emily Key and Ashley King also took part in the STAR event “Illustrated Talk.” Ashley Allen also represented AC-SH at the state conference.
The high school’s FCCLA chapter was also recognized on the Gold Medal Honor Roll. The recognition is presented to a chapter that excels in community involvement, chapter projects and membership initiatives.
