The general election is six weeks away and Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes says Kentucky's county clerks have started mailing absentee ballots to military and other eligible voters.
Grimes say the absentee ballot process can take weeks and encourages voters to register to vote and submit absentee ballot requests.
Under kentucky law ballots must be printed 50 days before the election.
The deadline to register to vote is October 9th.
The deadline to apply for a mail-in absentee ballot is October 30th.
Ballots must be received by the county clerk no later than 6:00 PM on November 6th.
