The child's mother had left the baby with Roberta Rhodes, but police say Roberta left to run errands, leaving the baby with Belton. Belton told police he was tired and frustrated, and might have been too rough when he changed the baby's diaper. He has a preliminary hearing at 9:00 a.m. Friday.

Police say the baby was taken to Kosair Children's Hospital.
