The Kentucky man accused of killing two neighbors at a homeowners association meeting last year tried to speak up in court as he faces new charges for allegedly throwing water on a corrections officer and threatening to kill him.

WDRB-TV reports Mahmoud Hindi tried to get his side of the story out at his arraignment Thursday in Louisville on new assault and terroristic threatening charges.

Police say Hindi threatened to kill the corrections officer and repeated the threat several times to a mental health official. Hindi is accused of throwing water on the officer while out of his cell to take medication.

Hindi told the judge the corrections officer taunts him because he has an accent.

The Courier-Journal reports Officer Christopher Hornback said he feared for his life in light of Hindi's charges.
