The Hope House in Bowling Green has kicked off their annual Adopt-A-Backpack program in hopes of feeding children in need, and say it's essential to have help from the community.
The backpack program assists 19 schools in the Warren County and the Bowling Green School District.
It cost $100 to adopt a backpack which will feed a child for 40 weeks.
The Hope House says the goal is to have 450 kids adopted by the end of August.
"It provides food to the neediest of kids, so kids that only maybe eat at school and they don't have any food when they go home it provides that extra meal so over the weekend they have some food to eat," says Jon Merkling," Hope House Director of Operations.
Merkling says they have raised enough money to feed half of the 450 children.
If you would like to adopt a child through the backpack program you can make a check out to the Hope House.
