Today many rolled up their sleeves and gave back during a blood drive to benefit the American Red Cross this afternoon.

Harley Davidson in Bowling Green hosts at least two blood drives a year, and say it's their way of helping out the community.

The Red Cross says they are running low on blood donations so if you're thinking about donating now is the time.

"We have a lot of blood drives at high schools and with the schools being out for the summer were not bringing as much in. In the summertime the shelves are always low so just trying to get businesses to have us come always helps out," says Helen Reasonover, Team Supervisor with the American Red Cross.

To find out if a blood drive is being hosted in your area you can log onto www.americanredcross.org and type in your zip code for a calendar of events.
