Annual Harley Davidson Birthday Bash

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- The parking lot was packed at the Harley Davidson store, not only because a motor cycle was raffled off, but as a collaborative effort to raise money for a local charity.

“I'll come here every year if there ain't nobody here ya know," said Abnor Higdon, event participant.

Abnor Higdon says he is a Harley Davidson Birthday Bash regular. The food, music and fellowship is enough entertainment for him. But, he says the true reason behind the bash, shadows all of the material aspects of the event.

“Anything that is for a kid is great. I would give a kid my last dime and anybody in their right mind would," said Abnor Higdon, event participant.

The funds raised this weekend will go back to the Center for Courageous Kids, located in Scottsville. Today, bikers road off of the property toward the acreage housing the Center for Courageous Kids.

"God puts every body here for a reason,” said Abnor Higdon, event participant.

Higdon says, knowing he has made an impact on raising money for the non-profit organization, is very self fulfilling.

"I feel pretty good about it every year. You know, Harley Davidson, that is something I've always wanted is a bike. I got one and it's just a trade thing,” said Abnor Higdon, event participant

Higdon was able to spend today, Father's Day, with his kids out at the special event and says the kids are what make it all worth while.

"My kids are my world, always have been and always will be,” said Abnor Higdon, event participant.

There were more than one-hundred people out at today's event and nearly seventy-five bikes participated in the cruise.
