Two are dead after a three vehicle crash near Bowling Green Wednesday.
The accident happened on northbound I-65 at the 19 mile marker
Police say the wreck happened just before noon in the northbound lanes, when a red pickup crossed into the path of a semi.
The pick-up then crossed over into the far right lane, and hit an oversize load causing both trucks to go into the woods.
Police say the driver and passenger of the pick-up were pronounced dead at the scene, while the oversize load driver was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital.
His condition is not known.
"Anytime there is a fatality, no matter if it's I-65 or US 31W behind me, we don't like responding to those. I don't believe it's anything as far as engineering in the road itself, this did occur in the three-lane section of I-65," said Tpr. Jonathan Biven, Kentucky State Police.
The driver of the semi was not injured, and police are not releasing the names of those involved.
Traffic was backed up for several hours.
There have now been at least four deaths this month on I-65 in our area.
