CORBIN, Ky. (AP) — Authorities have identified human bones found in a southeastern Kentucky self-storage unit as those of a woman who had been missing since 1997.
According to WLEX-TV, the remains found in Corbin last week were identified as those of Doris Anne Wood, who disappeared in Newark, Del.
Officials say her late husband, Robert Wood, rented the storage unit.
Investigators used the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System to match dental records and identify the remains.
According to the missing persons databases, Doris Anne Wood was on her way to visit her sister in 1997 but never arrived. She was never seen again.
A man going through the contents of a storage unit he bought at an auction found the bones inside three grocery bags at Pier Rental Storage in Corbin.
