SOMERSET, Ky. (AP) -- A summer youth aviation camp in south-central Kentucky is on the verge of being canceled due to a lack of participation.
Officials told the Commonwealth Journal that they need to have at least 30 youth signed up for the event that's scheduled for July 22-23 in Somerset or it won't happen. There were eight children signed up for the camp by the middle of June and a July 1 deadline looms.
Roy Hinklin, who helped bring the camp to town, said even though the prospects look bleak he is giving one last try to signing up more youth for the camp, which is sponsored by the Aviation Museum of Kentucky.
During the camp, youth fly in a Cessna 172 airplane with a certified pilot instructor.
