BGFD Conducts Training At Causey's Auto Parts

"You know, a school bus is perfect because we have so many kids in Warren County and Bowling Green, and we want to make sure that we keep them safe, so this is just a good way for us to practice," said Marlee Boenig, BGFD Public Information Officer.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky (WBKO) -- School may be out for the summer, but bus safety is on the minds of Bowling Green firefighters.
BGFD spent the morning, conducting school bus extrication scenarios.

The situations were staged to train firefighters on a variety of techniques they would use when dealing with a large vehicle.

"You know, a school bus is perfect because we have so many kids in Warren County and Bowling Green, and we want to make sure that we keep them safe, so this is just a good way for us to practice," said Marlee Boenig, BGFD Public Information Officer.

Each of the situations represents actual accidents involving school buses. The drills tests the firefighters' ability to think on their feet and respond quickly in a moment of crisis.
