BRASS Awarded Grant from Women's Fund of South Central Kentucky

Brass was selected from 21 applicants for the impact grant.  Officials say they will use the fund to further their mission of helping victims of domestic violence.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) --Barren River Area Safe Space known as brass received a grant for more than $50,000 from the Women's Fund of South Central Kentucky this week.

Brass was selected from 21 applicants for the impact grant. Officials say they will use the fund to further their mission of helping victims of domestic violence.

"We are going to use the Women's impact grant to add a totally new handicap accessible restroom to our shelter facility. We only have two bathrooms in the house and serve many women and children throughout the year, so mornings can be a nightmare when people are getting ready for school or for work," said BRASS Executive Director Lee Alcott.

Alcott says the money will also help BRASS buy furniture and new playground equipment for the shelter.
