Another big country act is making his way to Bowling Green as a part of this year's U.S. Bank Balloons Tunes & BBQ presented by Houchens Industries. At an announcement Thursday morning, it was revealed that Randy Houser is headlining the Saturday night concert on September 7th. The festival is also scheduled to have plenty of hot air balloons along with something new this year.
"Staple of the event since 1990 has been hot air balloons. Certainly they're going to be back competing for $10,000 in prize money with pilots from all over the country. Also, this year we have other competitors with a regional barbecue cook off. We're going to have ten to 15 teams competing for barbecue championships in three different categories." said Craig Browning, Regional President of U.S. Bank.
The categories in competition are chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. Thursday night is "Kid's Night" and will feature Sesame Street puppeteer, Leslie Carrara-Rudolph. Carrara-Rudolph is best known as Abby Cadabby and has received three Emmy nominations. Officials also announced Friday night performers will include John Ford Coley, Al Stewart and Terry Sylvester as a part of Retro Night.
