(Bowling Green, KY) United Way of Southern Kentucky on behalf of the U.S. Bank Balloons, Tunes and BBQ Festival announced today that Justin Rivers will be joining the Saturday night concert line up sponsored by 95.1 WGGC. Rivers will round out an excellent lineup of musical talent Saturday night which also includes local favorite Floord, Brent Rupard, and country music sensation Randy Houser who’s current single Runnin’ Out of Moonlight jumped to #1 on country music charts this week.
Born in Mobile, Alabama in 1983, Justin Rivers grew up just a few miles north, in the small country town of Fairford.
As he recounts, “From the time I was big enough to walk I’ve had an instrument in my hands.”
Justin’s talents were first recognized at the age of 5 when he became the drummer for his parents’ church. This started his journey to becoming a skilled multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and performer.
From the moment he started traveling with a band at the age of 11, Justin knew he wanted to have a career in music. He has had the opportunity to work on stages from churches to arenas before moving to Nashville, TN, in late 2006 to help start the band, Austins Bridge. Justin has worked with the likes of Dan Huff (renowned producer) and Jay Demarcus (of Rascal Flatts).
When asked about Justin, Demarcus said, "Rarely does an artist come along that is so gifted, genuine and extremely talented.”
Though his musical career is still in the infancy stages, Justin says he feels blessed for having won a Dove Award and being nominated for a Grammy in 2011.
From his deep roots in the church, and having grown up on a horse farm, Justin’s sound is definitely country, but with a soulful expression that can be felt when you hear him sing. Justin is currently booking concerts and pursuing options that will advance his career while quickly making a name for himself in Nashville.
“I look forward to connecting with fans at my shows and giving them that time to enjoy themselves and just have fun,” Justin explained about his new musical endeavor.
Earlier this year, Rivers appeared on NBC’s “The Voice” becoming one of the final four on country music superstar Blake Shelton's team. With over 40,000 participants starting, Justin made his way to the final 16. Rivers' professional performance experience and role as a worship leader at his church in his current home of Bowling Green, Kentucky, combine to make him a very charismatic stage presence.
When asked about his participation in the 2013 Balloons, Tunes & BBQ Festival, Justin said, “I was so excited when I found out that I would be performing at Balloons, Tunes and BBQ this year. This is always a fun event and I'm glad to have another chance to play in Bowling Green; this town has shown so much love and support to me and I'm jumping on any chance to give back when I can. I want everyone that can, to come out and plan on having a great time."
Regional President of Balloons, Tunes and BBQ title sponsor U.S. Bank Craig Browning noted, "We're extremely excited to announce Justin Rivers' inclusion in the country music concert lineup for Balloons, Tunes & BBQ on September 7! Justin has had a very distinguished career in music, and most recently skyrocketed onto the national scene with a strong performance on NBC's The Voice as one of Blake Shelton's final four team members. Justin is taking his career to the next level, and we're very blessed to have him be part of our event. Adding Justin to this years lineup with Floord, Brent Rupard, and superstar Randy Houser, makes this one of our best lineups ever. Randy's current single, Runnin' Outta Moonlight, is #1 THIS WEEK on the media based country charts. On the heels of a #1 single earlier this year (How Country Feels), Randy is one of the hottest acts on tour right now. Justin's addition to the lineup, and his strong Bowling Green fan base, just makes 2013 a very special year for our patrons. Every dollar raised benefits United Way of Southern Kentucky, so we encourage country music fans to come out and enjoy -- and help a great cause at the same time!"
