Barren Co Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

BARREN COUNTY, Ky (WBKO) -- At approximately 1:17am Saturday morning, Deputy Dean Crumbaugh conducted a traffic stop on a 2013 black Mazda on Lecta Salem Road in Barren County.

A passenger inside the vehicle, 33 year old Eric Sturgeon of Cave City, was arrested for two outstanding warrants.

The first warrant was for a Probation Violation (felony offense).

The second warrant was for; 1) Manufacturing Methamphetamine, 2) Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree, 1st offense (Methamphetamine), 3) Unlawful Possession of Meth Precursor 1st offense, and Drug Paraphernalia Possession.

After Sturgeon was taken into custody, Deputies located 3 Alprazolam pills, a set of digital scales and a small spoon containing residue on his person. Deputies also located 2 loaded syringes inside the vehicle containing suspected methamphetamine.

In addition to the warrants Sturgeon was also charged with; 1) Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st degree Methamphetamine, 2) Drug Paraphernalia Possession, and 3) Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree. Deputy Eric Bull was the arresting Officer.
