Basil Griffin Park Concession Stand To Be Demolished

"So a tough loss, but we've been through tough times before and we're going to do fine and we'll build a nice new building back hopefully for the citizens and the kids that come out here and play in our program," said Warren County Parks director Chris Kummer.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- An electrical ballast caused the concession stand fire at Basil Griffin Park more than a week ago and the building is scheduled to be demolished this week.

Chris Kummer, the Warren County Parks director, is working with an insurance adjuster on inventory for the lost equipment and building.

He says that area of the park should open up by the spring for people to use the ball fields.

He also says they're already looking into options for re-building, and he hopes the facility will be even better than before.

"So a tough loss, but we've been through tough times before and we're going to do fine and we'll build a nice new building back hopefully for the citizens and the kids that come out here and play in our program," Kummer said.

On paper, Kummer said the building was insured for more than $500,000 and the contents more than $600,000.

Kummer says they're still working with insurance on what the final number will be and hopes it's enough to replace the building and most of the equipment inside.
