Bazzell Students Compete in State Science Olympiad

The James E. Bazzell Middle School seventh and eighth grade Science Olympiad teams participated April 27 at the middle school state Science Olympiad competition at Western Kentucky University.

Earning a gold metal in Water Quality were seventh-graders Faith Murley and Lauren Riffe. Bronze medal winners were seventh-graders Haley Helmes and Adrianna Webb in the Mousetrap Vehicle category.

Overall, the Bazzell Blue team was the eighth place team and fourth best school overall while the Red team was the 16th place team overall.

Science Olympiad students take part in areas of competition with the events designed to test both knowledge of a scientific area and the application of knowledge to complete assigned tasks.

Seventh grade Science Olympiad students include Chance Baldwin, Dawson Birge, Aaron Borth, Marcus Carter, Olivia Hawkins, Haley Helmes, Grace Jones, Isabella Jones, Faith Murley, Tyler Petty, Lauren Riffe, Kaelee Stafford, Lillie Swygart, Adrianna Webb and Alyssa Welch.

The eight grade Science Olympiad students include Nate Anderson, Jack Byrn, Ryan Conner, Erika Gilliam, Jacob Gross, Logan Hardcastle, Zack Logsdon, Ethan Oliver, Whitney Perry, Savannah Ranney, Bailey Stamps, Jasmine Taylor, Shelby Taylor, Brandon Thompson, and Wade Weisbrodt.
