CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ky. (WBKO) -- Gov. Steve Beshear spoke Thursday afternoon at the welcome center in Christian County near the Kentucky, Tennessee line on Interstate 24.
Beshear's message was clear, roads in Kentucky safer for drivers.
Beshear said over the last five and a half years there have been 25 cross over collisions in Christian County.
He announced a 24 mile, $3.1 million project to build median cable barriers on I-24.
"These barriers are fairly expensive. Cost average is about $140,000 to $150,000 per mile, but they are an effective investment in saving lives, and one of the several ways we've been working to reduce highway fatalities since I became governor," said Gov. Beshear.
This cable barrier project is in two sections along I-24, the one in Christian County and the other near Paducah.
