BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The BB&T 4th of July Block Party is taking over downtown Bowling Green on Friday.
The festivities started at 2:30 p.m. with children's games sponsored by SKyPAC.
At 4:00, local band Soul House rocked Circus Square Park.
Then Bowling Green Hot Rods took the field with double the fireworks show after the game.
"It was just an idea and we want people to know they can stick around in Bowling Green and have just as good of a time as if they'd gone anywhere else or a better time," said Erin Holton, the event coordinator.
The night wraps up at Hitcents Park Plaza with a performance by Sleeper Agent after the fireworks.
It's the first year for the block party, and Holton said the goal is to get everyone downtown by bringing a new celebration to the area.
