Bobby Petrino Accepts Job at Louisville

BOWLING GREEN, Ky - The Bobby Petrino era at WKU lasted one season.

Petrino is leaving the Hilltoppers to become the new head coach at Louisville.

An announcement will be made on Thursday.

Petrino coached the Cardinals from 2003-2006 before leaving for the NFL and was the offensive coordinator in 1998.

Petrino guided the Hilltoppers to eight wins in 2013, the most since joining the Football Bowl Subdivision. He will owe WKU 1.2 million dollars as part of his buyout. His base salary in 2013 was $850,000.

Offensive coordinator Jeff Brohm is the favorite to replace Petrino at WKU. He met with athletic director Todd Stewart on Tuesday in case Petrino left for U of L, reports USA Today.
