(Hopkinsville - via Adam May, WHOP News) - A juvenile was arrested this morning after a staff member at Christian County High School received a bomb threat via email, causing students to be evacuated to the old middle school.

There was no evidence that there actually was a bomb on campus, but the school system and police treated the incident as if the threat was real.

Students were taken to the old middle school for their safety. Police and staff searched each classroom for anything unusual to be sure the building was safe.

Word came shortly after 11am that one arrest of a juvenile had been made.

The emailed threat was sent to a staff member last night but wasn't opened until the beginning of the school day, according to school system spokesperson Heather Aubin. She says it was the kind of situation every school system hopes never happens but that the response between the school district and police went smoothly.

Students are back in their classrooms resuming normal activities late in the morning.

We will continue to follow this story as new information is learned. Many thanks to our radio partner WHOP, Hopkinsville for contributing to this story.
