BOWLING GREEN, Ky. -- Bowling Green attorney John McCracken announced yesterday that he will run for Warren County Family Court Judge in the next election.

He was in Frankfort yesterday to file for the position -- which Judge Margaret Huddleston has held for two terms.

She announced Thursday that she was taking a medical leave of absence until January because of a reoccurrence of cancer.

She also said she wasn't going to seek a third term.

McCracken said it's been a dream of his to be a judge.

"I'm hoping that I can help ease that process. I have a laid-back personality. My dad was a judge for years and I'm hoping that I can take some of what I saw him do and help make litigants feel at ease in a very difficult situation."

He said he hopes Judge Huddleston is better soon.
