BOWLING GREEN, Ky, -- On the heels of announcing 70 can’t miss baseball games at Bowling Green Ballpark this summer, the Bowling Green Hot Rods
(Class-A/Tampa Bay Rays) announced on Friday that Florida Georgia Line will be performing at the ballpark on Friday, June 20. The superstar country duo is also bringing Chris Lane and rap artist Nelly, who collaborated with them on the remix of their top hit, “Cruise.”
“Every day, Bowling Green Ballpark continues to become the place to be in south-central Kentucky this summer,” said Hot Rods general manager and chief operating officer, Adam Nuse. “Stuart and Jerry Katzoff challenged us to bring more than just baseball to the ballpark, and this concert is the latest endeavor to achieve that.”
The concert will take place at Bowling Green Ballpark on Friday, June 20. Gates will open to the public at 5:30 p.m., and the best way for Hot Rods fans to secure their seat is to own a season ticket, mini-plan, or a membership in one of the new four clubs. All ticket plan holders and club members will receive a promotional code to purchase concert tickets before they go on sale to the general public.
FGL has exploded since releasing four consecutive, multi-week top hits with the gold-certified “Stay,” the platinum-certified hits “Get Your Shine On” and "Round Here," and six-time platinum “Cruise,” whose sales are combined with the remix featuring Nelly. Breaking the record for longest top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs Chart, “Cruise” has sold nearly 6.8 million downloads in the United States alone, and is the best-selling digital Country single of all time according to SoundScan. Nelly's remix on the summer anthem helped maximize the reach across multiple genres and platforms. The award-winning duo’s current single, “This Is How We Roll” featuring Luke Bryan is quickly climbing the country charts.
FGL has racked up four nominations - Vocal Duo of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year (“Cruise”), and Vocal Event of the Year (“Cruise” Remix featuring Nelly) - for the American Country Music Awards, airing April 6 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on CBS. Earlier in the weekend (April 4), FGL will join label mates at the ACM Party for a Cause Festival for "Outnumber Hunger Live!" to raise awareness for the one in six Americans who struggle with hunger.
The fun summer at Bowling Green Ballpark is on the horizon, as Citizens First Opening Night is set for Thursday, April 3 at 7:05 p.m. The Hot Rods will open their 2014 season against the South Bend Silver Hawks (Arizona Diamondbacks) with a four-game series at the ballpark. Season ticket packages and single-game tickets are on sale now, and they can be obtained by calling 270-901-2121, visiting BGHotRods.com, or by stopping at the box office.
Hot Rods season ticket holders and club members will receive a code to allow them to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the public. Gates will open at 5:30, and the promoter is expecting up to 13,000 people to attend. According to the the Hot Rods Media Relations Manager, this could be a record for Bowling Green Ballpark.
