BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- An important financial rating for the city of Bowling Green has gotten even better.
The city says it's long-term Standard and Poor's" rating of "AA-" has gone up to "AA."
This new rating is defined as "a very strong capacity to meet financial commitments."
Bowling Green Chief Financial Officer Jeff Meisel says a key to this is the city has budgeted well the past few years.
"The fact that we've been able to put some reserves away kind of stabilizes everything. Revenues have recovered from the recession pretty well. We just have a really good diverse, local economy," said Meisel.
Meisel says this will benefit the city for years to com when financing is needed.
Bowling Green is now only two ranks behind the top rating.
