You may have noticed several firetrucks in front of the old LC Curry Elementary School today on Durbin Street.
The Bowling Green Fire Department conducted a large area search training.
The firefighters, along with three new recruits, made their way through the smoke-filled school to practice putting out fires, and saving lives, in a much bigger space.
Captain Jason Sowders says it's important, since most of the fires they cover are residential.
"If and when there is a large area search, due to the area, we can get disoriented faster. And the area that has to be covered takes a little bit longer than a normal residential home," he says.
He says it's much harder keeping firefighters from getting trapped in bigger spaces.
