Hundreds woke up early Saturday morning for the Purple Striders 5k.
The annual run is held each summer to raise money for the Bowling Green Cross Country team.
There was no age limit for this run, and over 160 runners signed up.
The money raised Saturday will go towards the cross country teams yearly expenses.
"Well it usually gets us a couple thousand dollars and that money is used towards traveling and stuff like that for the cross country team and it helps us for our uniforms," says Coach Matt Hamilton.
For those who don't like to run long distances, there was also a 5k walk that was held after the run.
