BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- The city of Bowling Green is looking at expanding the city limits.
The program started about a year and a half ago, but city officials are just now trying to implement this annexation process.
They're looking at an area near the Natcher Parkway and Interstate 65 intersection.
Bowling Green Mayor Bruce Wilkerson said this is a prime target area for commercial development.
"We know that a city that doesn't grow ends up dying, that's whether it's population, jobs or size. Bowling Green has got to continue to grow in order to provide the services and the revenues necessary to help this community grow," said Wilkerson.
This is one of five target areas, but Wilkerson said it will be awhile before they get to the other four areas.
If city commissioners do vote to annex this area, businesses who build there would be able to get city services also.
