Bowling Green Pair Charged With Abuse Could Face Murder Charges

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -- A Bowling Green couple charged with abusing a 2 year old boy made their first appearance in court Wednesday

Penny Hicks, 22, appeared in court with a shaved head, alongside 19 year old Austin Searles. They each had their right to a preliminary hearing waived, meaning the case now goes to a grand jury.

According to court documents, the two year old son of Hicks suffered multiple bruises to his back, chest, scrotum and thighs. That child remains in the hospital where the Commonwealth Attorney said his chance of living is slim. He went on to say if the boy does live, he will most likely be in a vegetative state.
